Short Drama TV Movies Hits Online Honest Review Inside

Past the Brands Everyone Recognizes

Five apps take nearly all the coverage in this segment: ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, My Drama and DramaWave. They set the benchmark on this page, and they get no second review here. The rung below them is bigger than most people assume. It also contains at least one short drama app that beats all five on downloads. On September 23, 2026 I read the App Store and Google Play short tv store pages for every name below. Dull as they are, publisher names, debut dates and download counts are the fields a marketing team cannot exaggerate. When the two stores disagree, both are recorded. Any claim that gets repeated without a primary source gets flagged as unconfirmed here.

The Second Tier on One Screen

A pair of notes on the table columns first. Because Google Play publishes installs in buckets, 10M+ and 100M+ function as bands rather than counts, and an app at the bottom of a band can be far smaller than one at the top. Launch dates here come out of the listings, which often log the iOS and Android releases a matter of weeks separately. If a cell says not reported, the data point was not in the store listings or the printed data I checked. An iOS-only app has no Google Play number to give, so that gap is real rather than an oversight. Since all seven offer short dramas in the same vertical format, the table sticks to the paperwork and leaves the programming alone.

App Publisher named in the store listing Launch date Google Play installs What is notable
NetShort NETSTORY PTE. LTD. July 22, 2024 100M+ Third in the world on downloads in Q1 2026, according to Sensor Tower numbers
FlexTV YUDER PTE. LTD. October 2022 10M+ Longest-running app in this group
MoboReels CHANGDU (HK) TECHNOLOGY LIMITED on iOS; MOBOREADER TECHNOLOGY USA on Google Play June or July 2023, according to the store 10M+ Two corporate names on one app
Kalos TV Storyverse Co., Limited September 2023 5M+ Smallest here; the Kuaishou link that keeps circulating is unverified
TopShort Han Book Pte. Ltd., developer name JoyHunter June 2023 Not reported; iOS confirmed only One app holding novels and drama
FreeReels Kunlun Tech Not reported Not reported Number one worldwide by downloads in Q1 2026, according to Sensor Tower numbers
GreatShort Intelligent Journey Inc Not reported 10M+ Bills itself as free of subscriptions

NetShort

In truth, NetShort probably does not belong in a second rung at all. The developer on Google Play is NETSTORY PTE. LTD., with the listing showing a release date of July 22, 2024. That makes it younger than DramaBox, ShortMax and My Drama. The 100M+ download bucket is still where it sits, the same band as ReelShort and DramaBox. The most solid third-party figure on this page is its Sensor Tower ranking, third worldwide by downloads in Q1 2026. The gap is a matching place in the revenue tables, where DramaBox and ReelShort sat level at about $140M each that three-month stretch. Downloads and money run as separate contests, and NetShort is currently winning one of them.

FlexTV

FlexTV is the old hand here and gets less attention than its age merits. Both store listings name YUDER PTE. LTD. as the developer and point to an October 2022 debut. That is about two months after ReelShort and half a year before DramaBox. It sits in the 10M+ install bucket, which is a full band below NetShort. Plainly, a head start in this market has not been worth much on its own. FlexTV reads as a mature drama app rather than a growing one, which makes four years of accumulated episodes its real selling point.

MoboReels

Pinning MoboReels down is the slowest job here. CHANGDU (HK) TECHNOLOGY LIMITED is the App Store vendor of record, while MOBOREADER TECHNOLOGY USA is the name on Google Play. So a single app carries two registered names across two jurisdictions. Split naming is not a warning sign by itself, because it is routine in this category, but it does rule out the developer line as a fast identity check. On the launch the stores also disagree, putting it in June or July 2023. Its install bucket is 10M+, the band it shares with FlexTV and GreatShort. Refund requests go to Apple or Google rather than to one company, so note which store took your money if you install it.

Kalos TV

Kalos TV sits in the 5M+ band, making it the smallest app here. The developer is Storyverse Co., Limited, with both stores placing the debut in September 2023, the month ShortMax arrived. The interesting part is what the store listings leave out. Online it is frequently described as a Kuaishou project, and its Android package name carries a kw prefix that readers treat as evidence. No link to Kuaishou is confirmed in either store page, and I could not verify one from a primary source. Any article that states it flatly deserves suspicion, since a fragment of a package name is a hint and not a chain of ownership.

TopShort

The outlier is TopShort, because iOS is the only place I could confirm it exists. On the App Store the seller is Han Book Pte. Ltd., the publisher name is JoyHunter and the launch is June 2023. The pitch is novels and drama together, which puts it in the same lineage as GoodShort. The reason to try it is that combination. Anyone already following serialized web fiction will spot the library logic and the source material behind the adapted series. Because I have no Google Play band for it, I am not going to guess at its size from a single store.

FreeReels

FreeReels pairs the best headline number on this page with the thinnest filings behind it. First globally by downloads in Q1 2026, according to Sensor Tower, which puts it ahead of everything else here and ahead of the five famous apps. The owner is Kunlun Tech, the group behind DramaWave, which Media Partners Asia credits with about 13% of the microdrama market outside China. The download leader and a top-five revenue app as a result sit under one outfit. Remember that any time this market gets characterized as a two-horse race. I recorded no debut date or install bucket for it, so you should open the store page and read the purchase list yourself.

GreatShort

A real Android app from Intelligent Journey Inc, GreatShort sits in the 10M+ band on Google Play. What makes the pitch unusual is the store description, which says the app is free, with “no subscription and no hidden fees”. That assertion is the publisher’s own, made in its own store page, and not a finding I confirmed by taking an account through a full series. The first place to check it is the store page’s in-app purchase area. Monetization changes here without warning, so a description written in September 2026 is a point-in-time record rather than a promise. If the statement holds up, GreatShort is the obvious first stop for anybody who declines to leave a weekly pass running.

The Ones Worth a Look

NetShort is the first install if you rank on what the store pages support, since it has the scale and the put out ranking to support it. Second on the same logic is FreeReels, which also has a parent company with a real record in the category. FlexTV lands third, and I would open it to browse rather than to follow a new release. For iOS users who read web novels, and only for them, TopShort earns a place, because the combined catalog is a real difference. Nothing in their own store pages gives a reason to pick Kalos TV or MoboReels over the larger ones, since both are ordinary apps. GreatShort is worth ten minutes to see whether its no-subscription claim survives contact with a paywall. Anyone who simply wants to watch dramas online without a new download is still better served by the five major apps and their official channels.

When the Name Is the Only Real Part

What is left to go wrong in this tier is search, not software. Many phrases that look like brands are only misspellings, and real short, reel shorts and realshort all resolve to ReelShort, printed by New Leaf Publishing. Great short as two words reaches GreatShort and free reel reaches FreeReels, so two others now land somewhere real. As new apps launch, a dead-end search can turn into a live result, and that is how the wrong install happens. The short tv style of title is not locked down in store search either, and several unrelated developers publish near-identical names. MoboReels is the opposite case, one authentic app under two publisher names, and TopShort is a third, an iOS-only app leaving an Android blank other titles fill. Fixing it takes five seconds: ignore the icon, read the developer field, check the download band, and open the in-app purchase list before deciding that a shorts app is the one you wanted.
